Your Favorite Player -- Jason Bay
He is a great team player with supreme character and tireless work ethic. He shows up every day and gives it all on the field and at the plate. He is awesome as awesome could be. I adore everything about him, including his taste in weather. I don't know how he got this nick name "the Sunflower of Perfection", but me likey! And by the way, his new hobby? To kick some Yankees butt.
Your Eye Candy -- Justin Masterson
His pose is alway graceful and his delivery is always smooth. He has a baby face so that even the fact that he shaves his head every morning could not make him look slightly intimidating on the mound. It is his phenomenal plus-sinker with an excellent heavy drop that breaks the batter's will and heart. He is a jovial kid, always cheerful always tranquil and always wearing a sweet smile. Watching him makes me happy.
Your Rookie -- Daniel Bard
Ever since Lester, Ellsbury, Masterson and Lowrie, I've had a thing about the rookies. It's so fun to watch those baby Sox grow into major league players. This year it's this kid who caught my eyes. His scouting report says it all: "Live arm with a smooth delivery. His fastball looks effortless, and sits around 96 mph with decent command and average movement. He can consistently hit 97-99 mph on the radar gun, and can reportedly get up to 101 mph when he reaches back. Bard also mixes in an 80-82 mph slider with some nice bite... He also has a few other pitches in his arsenal that aren't used very often, including a high 80s cutter, a low-90s two-seamer, and a circle change." And he is a smart and modest kid who knows how to seize every opportunity to learn from the veteran pitchers.
Your Guity Pleasure -- Joe Mauer & Grady Sizemore
Hey, at least they are not Yankees. In my defense, they are way too awesome for their own good. I just couldn't help it, okay? And I would luuuuuve to see them in a Sox jersey in the future.
